Chase Rogers, who covers transportation for the Austin American-Statesman, is moving to the Dallas Morning News as a breaking news reporter.
He previously covered local government and environmental issues for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in South Texas. Before then, he was a crime and courts reporter for the Victoria Advocate.
At the Caller-Times, he produced an award-winning series of stories exploring the unexpected impacts and construction delays of a $1 billion bridge replacement project overseen by the Texas Department of Transportation. His coverage shed light on the poor outcomes for neighborhoods hemming the new bridge’s path, a heated dispute between the Texas DOT and the developer over the bridge’s proposed design, and Texas DOT’s sluggishness to release information under the Texas Public Information Act.
He attended Texas State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications.
