Atlanta Biz Chronicle names Anason its editor in chief

The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named Dean Anason its editor in chief.

Anason joined the Business Chronicle as managing editor in 2024. Former editor in chief Doug Sams moved to the San Francisco Business Times last year, and Anason had been running the newsroom in the interim.

Anason was previously was managing editor of American Banker. In two stints at the publication that spanned nearly 17 years, Anason was national and consumer finance editor, M&A editor, Washington bureau chief and Capitol Hill reporter.

He also was an assistant business editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in between and began his career as the health care reporter for Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
