Armour departs WSJ for Kaiser Health

We are thrilled to announce that Stephanie Armour (https://x.com/StephArmour1/) will be joining KFF Health News later this month as a new DC-based senior correspondent focused on how Congress and the president’s administration impact Americans’ health and livelihoods.

Stephanie shares our journalism DNA, with a track record of producing compelling people-focused health policy stories that have impact and that other newsrooms follow. She is an award-winning (https://www.wsj.com/news/author/stephanie-armour) journalist who has been a frequent guest on What the Health and has written countless pieces that many of us wish we’d done first. Circumstances have made this move possible now, and fortunately the Board created an opportunity fund which Drew can use only for very selected purposes such as for opportunistic hires like this.

According to Stephanie, she got her start in journalism in the fourth grade. She and a classmate created their own handwritten broadsheet called The Daily Buggle (sic). While they sold that door-to-door, her first paying job in journalism was at the Daily Tribune in Ames, Iowa, where she reportedly made so little that she qualified for the county’s free cheese program. We’ll ask Tony to fact check this one 😉.

Stephanie is an empty nester with two college-age kids and lives in Glover Park with dogs Maisie and Bear. Maisie is an English bulldog whose bark sounds like a pterodactyl and who has a habit of snoring loudly when sources call. Bear is a 7-lb Maltipoo who thinks he’s a boss. Both will no doubt be frequent contributors to @KFFDogs (https://x.com/kffdogs)
