Associated Press business reporter Ken Sweet has added the Internal Revenue Service and tax policy to his beat.
He will continue to cover banking. Sweet writes about the nation’s biggest banks, their regulators and how financial services impact Americans.
“The IRS is a substantial part of the federal government and one of the few agencies that Americans must interact with, by law, every year,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “Tax policy is deep issue in this country, from feelings on how much we pay in taxes, fairness in taxes, loopholes and exploits and extensive lobbying.”
Before joining the AP, he covered private equity at The Wall Street Journal. He also has written for CNNMoney and Bloomberg News.
Sweet holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University in 2024-25.
