
The Associated Press has named Rio Yamat its airlines and travel reporter on the business news desk.
Before joining AP’s business desk, she covered news in the U.S. Southwest more broadly for the AP, with a focus on Nevada. Based in Las Vegas, she’s covered some of the biggest stories in Nevada since 2016, including the 2017 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip and breaking the exclusive news of the first-ever arrest in the killing of Tupac Shakur.
Yamat previously spent five years at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. She also worked at the Reno Gazette Journal.
She is a graduate of UNLV.
