American Banker hires Williams as DC reporter

Claire Williams

American Banker has hired Morning Consult reporter Claire Williams to work in its Washington bureau.

She will be covering banking regulation, the U.S. Treasury and crypto.

She had been covering financial policy and the economy for Morning Consult since October 2018. She previously reported on the retail industry at S&P Global Intelligence since February 2017.

At S&P Global, Williams focused on Walmart, the decline of U.S. shopping malls and the recent wave of bankruptcies in the sector. Her beat also included big-box retail, e-commerce, apparel/footwear and specialty retail companies that rank among the largest in the world, such as Amazon, Home Depot and Nike.

A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Williams previously covered Tyson Foods and agribusiness while at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
