American Banker hires Leffert to cover intersection of finance and tech

Catherine Leffert

American Banker has hired Catherine Leffert as a reporter to cover the intersection of finance and technology.

She started on Monday.

Leffert has been a reporter for the Dallas Business Journal, where she covered finance and money.

Leffert was an intern for Bloomberg News in New York on the industrial and aerospace team. A Syracuse University graduate, she interned for the Dallas Business Journal in 2019 and also interned for the Central New York Business Journal in 2018.

While at Syracuse, she was a staff writer and then managing editor of The Daily Orange.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
