AFP hires Andrea as editor on Asia Pacific Desk

Lawrence Andrea

Agence France-Presse has hired Lawrence Andrea as an editor in the Asia Pacific desk.

He has been a Washington, D.C. correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writing about the state’s congressional delegation. He has also covered multiple congressional and presidential campaigns. Before moving to D.C., he led the police, crime and breaking news beat for the Indianapolis Star.

Andrea previously reported from Greece for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. His assignment focused on the refugee situation in the country and explored post-asylum life for refugees in the region.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2020 with degrees in journalism, classical studies and photography.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
