Ackerman named editor in chief of Gizmodo

Dan Ackerman

Veteran technology journalist Dan Ackerman has been hired as editor in chief of tech news site Gizmodo.

Ackerman comes to Gizmodo from consumer technology publication CNET, where he most recently served as editorial director, overseeing coverage of key tech topics including computers, gaming and virtual/augmented reality. There, he led a team producing highly-cited news and reviews and multi-platform video and social media content.

A frequent guest on television, radio and podcasts, Ackerman has long been a consumer technology expert for CBS Mornings and other programs, and is the author of the award-winning, New York Times-reviewed nonfiction book “The Tetris Effect.”

“Gizmodo has a rich history of delivering insightful and engaging content, and has always been at the forefront of tech journalism. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to shape the narrative surrounding technology and its impact on our lives,” said Ackerman in a statement. “I’m honored and elated to embark on this new journey as the editor-in-chief.”
