A new EIC in the Windy City, daylong WaPo strike, a public radio mainstay retires

Chicago’s esteemed Better Government Association has named Ruby L. Bailey (pictured) editor-in-chief of its Illinois Answers Project. About 700 Washington Post employees walked off the job last Thursday, protesting stalled union contract negotiations and expected layoffs. And Norm Silverstein, who has guided Rochester’s WXXI Public Media for nearly 30 years, has announced that he will retire in 2024.
