Wired global editorial director Katie Drummond sent out the following on Friday:
All –
I’m thrilled to share that Ej Dickson is joining WIRED as a senior writer on our culture desk, based out of New York. Her first day with us is Monday, April 6th!
Ej was most recently a senior writer covering culture at New York Magazine’s the Cut, where she wrote stories ranging from Jeffrey Epstein’s secret circle of gynecologists to Candace Owens’ pivot to lifestyle guru to the radicalization and death of a fruitarian. Prior to that, she worked as a senior writer for Rolling Stone, where she published cover stories about Mr. Beast and Doja Cat. She also broke stories about Andrew Tate, child exploitation allegations in Jojo Siwa’s tween girl group, and rape and sexual assault allegations against the porn star Ron Jeremy.
As if that weren’t enough, Ej recently released her first book, a collection of essays about bad moms in pop culture titled One Bad Mother: In Praise of Psycho Housewives, Stage Parents, Momfluencers, and Other Women We Love to Hate. (Buy it!)
She has two kids, a cat, and a three-legged border collie.
It’s hard to think of a more adept observer of pop culture—and how the internet shapes relationships at every level—than Ej. And in this moment, there are few more pressing beats for WIRED. On a personal note, Ej has long been a “must-read” writer for me, and I’m still pinching myself that we’re lucky enough to have her work run under the WIRED banner. Welcome, Ej!
Best,
Katie
