Online editor Phil Nussel of Automotive News has left the publication after more than 20 years and plans to look for a new position.

“I had a great run at Automotive News,” he said. “The brand has never been better.”

He has edited nearly all the major breaking-news stories on autonews.com since 2007. He also has been the internship director for Automotive News since 2007.

Before joining the Crain publication, Nussel was deputy business editor at the Detroit Free Press and business editor at the Detroit News. He also spent more than seven years at Crain’s Detroit Business as managing editor.

Nussel started his career as a business editor and reporter at the Charleston Daily Mail in West Virginia. He is a University of Michigan graduate.
