Yang takes on expanded role at DW News

William Yang

William Yang, East Asia correspondent at DW Wells, has expanded his coverage from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to also include Japan, South Korea, North Korea and Mongolia.

Yang’s tweet reads:

“Apart from writing, I’ll also start experimenting with other formats of storytelling. It’s been a fulfilling and rewarding four and a half years with @DeutscheWelle since I joined in 2018. I’ve been given a lot of room to grow and learn, as well as a lot of freedom to pursue topics that are really important to me. I’m excited about the new areas of my coverage, especially how these countries form the rapidly changing dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region.”

Yang freelanced and was a reporter/researcher at BuzzFeed, where he monitored events in the Greater China region, and pitched story ideas to editors in London. He contributed to Mic and interned at Grid Magazine.

Yang has a B.A. from Tunghai University in Taiwan and a master’s degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.

You can congratulate Yang on Twitter.
