Writer and editor Weiss resigns from NY Times opinion

Bari Weiss, writer and editor for the opinion department of The New York Times, has resigned.

The reasons she gave for her departure were “bullying by colleagues” and an “illiberal environment,” reports the publication.

Before joining the Times as an Op-Ed staff editor and writer covering culture and politics, Weiss was an op-ed and book review editor at The Wall Street Journal.

She has also worked at Tablet, an online magazine.

Weiss is a graduate of Columbia University and is also the author of “How to Fight Anti-Semitism,” a book published by Crown.

Kathleen Kingsbury, the acting editorial page editor, concluded, “We appreciate the many contributions that Bari made to Times Opinion. I’m personally committed to ensuring that The Times continues to publish voices, experiences and viewpoints from across the political spectrum in the Opinion report.”
