The Worcester Telegram & Gazette in Massachusetts has named Michael McDermott executive editor. Recently, McDermott served as managing editor of The Providence Journal in Rhode Island.
He begins later this month.
McDermott joined the Journal in 2003 as a copy editor. He then served as assistant sports editor/web producer and then as sports editor and was appointed assistant managing editor. He worked at The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Mass. for seven years and edited for Caspian Business News.
McDermott graduated from Northeastern University.
