Ann Givens has joined WNYC as a public safety editor. Recently, she was an investigative reporter at The Trace in New York, an independent news nonprofit.
Before that, she was an investigative producer at NBCUniversal and a staff writer at Newsday, covering criminal and civil courts in Nassau County. She also covered New York City Hall, the state legislature in Albany and assisted as an editor on the Newsday website and assignment desk.
She has also covered city government and education for the Orlando Sentinel. She has also written for the Patriot Ledger and the Napa Valley Register.
Givens has a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.
