Nexstar Broadcasting’s WGN-TV has hired Ray Cortopassi to co-anchor its evening newscasts beginning September 28.
Cortopassi joins WGN from Indianapolis, where he has anchored the morning and afternoon news for Nexstar-owned Fox affiliate WXIN-TV for more than a decade.
In his new role, Cortopassi succeeds Joe Donlon, who moved over to WGN America to co-anchor “News Nation,” a nightly cable newscast scheduled to launch September 1.
Prior to working at WXIN-TV, Cortopassi was executive director of Zionsville Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a reporter/anchor at WTHR-TV, WRTV, KTNV and WPBN-TV. Additionally, he also held the post of reporter/broadcast editor at City News Bureau of Chicago.
Dominick Stasi, WGN-TV news director said:
“Ray has a passion for this city and knows the stories that shape it. He is an accomplished and talented journalist and will be a great addition to our team.”
