The Daily Clintonian, a small Western Indiana newspaper has suspended its operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. Friday’s edition was the last one to be published, publisher George Carey said.

Carey’s parents bought the newspaper in 1936 and now he and his sister, Diane Waugh were operating the paper.

In addition, as the effects of the pandemic worsen and advertising businesses close down, the newspaper is not left with its major revenue stream. “It’s economics,” Carey said. “I wanted to keep it open, but it’s not viable. We put a lot of our own money back into the business and …”

Now, with no other option available, both Carey and Waugh have decided to fold the newspaper.
