After almost five years with Warner Bros. Discovery, Axel Caballero has left the company to lead the Latino Film Institute as its chief executive officer.

He’ll be tasked with overseeing the nonprofit’s mission to provide a pipeline, platform, and launching pad for Latino film creators into the entertainment industry, via programs such as The Youth Cinema Project (YCP), the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), and LatinX in Animation (LXiA).

During his tenure at WBD, Caballero was VP of OneFifty Content & Innovation Studio, where he led the development, programming, and production of narrative, documentary, and unscripted projects for HBO and Warner Bros.’ internal development incubator.

Before that, he was director of talent and content incubation at HBO for three years.

Caballero also worked as executive director of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and creator and executive producer of Latino Lens.
