Ali Watkins will join The New York Times Express team in London as a general assignment and rewrite reporter. She begins in January.
For the past year, Watkins has been on book leave in Ireland. A Times reporter for six years, her most recent post was Metro police reporter.
She has also worked as a national security reporter at Politico, BuzzFeed and The Huffington Post. She also served as a national security and regional politics reporter at McClatchy.
Watkins has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia and a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Galway in Ireland.
