The Washington Post has appointed Griff Witte its democracy editor.
In his new role, Witte will expand the Post’s coverage on voting rules, access to polls and more. He will also be leading a team of reporters based in Washington and key states around the country.
In addition, he will oversee collaborations with journalists across the National staff and the newsroom.
Witte joined the Post in 2002. Since then, he has served as bureau chief in Kabul, Islamabad, Jerusalem, London and Berlin. He also held the post of national correspondent.
He also championed the creation of the Post’s foreign-affairs blog, WorldViews. Prior to the Post, he was a reporter at The Miami Herald.
Witte graduated from Princeton University.
