Washington Post taps Givhan as senior critic-at-large

Robin Givhan

Robin Givhan has been promoted to the post of senior critic-at-large at The Washington Post.

In her new role, Givhan will continue covering a range of subjects in her trademark style, including politics, race, business and the arts. In the coming weeks, she will also be writing a weekly column that we will feature in the A-section.

She will also continue writing her incisive pieces during the political conventions and spend time diving more deeply as she did this year with her analytical Magazine pieces. She will also be looking at reported essays and profiling important figures.

Givhan is a globally renowned critic and received the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2006.

She is also the author of “The Battle of Versailles: The Night American Fashion Stumbled into the Spotlight and Made History.”

Apart from the Post, Givhan has also worked at The Daily Beast/Newsweek, Vogue magazine and the Detroit Free Press.

Givhan is a B.A. in English from Princeton University and a M.A. in journalism from the University of Michigan.
