Washington Post taps Deily on the health and science team

Mary-Ellen Deily will join The Washington Post’s health and science team to help edit and produce the weekly health and science section. She starts her new role on May 31.

For the past seven years, Deily was working on the Post’s Opinions copy desk. She had worked part-time on the Opinions assignment desk, where she has solicited and edited various pieces. Prior to the Post, she spent nearly two decades at Education Week.

There, she held various roles, including assistant managing editor for government and politics, deputy commentary editor and editorial director. She had formerly worked as a general assignment reporter at the Easton Star Democrat and Caroline County Times-Record on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Deily holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.
