Washington Post names Alfaro co-anchor of Post Politics Now

The Washington Post has tapped Mariana Alfaro as co-anchor of Post Politics Now, a new live analysis approach to political coverage, which is set to debut on April 4.

In her new role, Alfaro will lead Post Politics Now in the afternoon and evenings, partnering with co-anchor John Wagner, who will be hosting in the morning.

Recently, Alfaro was a politics reporter at The Post. She joined in February 2019 as a researcher and reporter for the Daily 202, The Post’s daily politics newsletter. Before that, she was a politics reporter at Insider.

She has also interned at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. She has also reported for the Texas Tribune.

Alfaro graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in journalism.
