Casey Silvestri is joining The Washington Post as an Instagram video editor to help develop how The Post uses video to tell stories across Instagram, including leading the efforts on Instagram Live and Reels.
She will also work in collaboration with the video team and will also be a key strategist for social video more broadly in the newsroom, determining how to bring the strongest work and people to the forefront of promotion for readers.
Her new role starts May 24.
Silvestri joins from NBC News, where she was recently a digital video producer, editing breaking news globally. She was also part of the team that launched “Stay Tuned,” the first daily news show on Snapchat.
During her time at NBC, she also served as a production intern – TODAY show, digital video intern, Olympics production associate, production associate and associate producer.
She has also worked as a digital video intern at Meredith Corporation. She was also an operations assistant/production assistant at J6 MediaWorks.
Silvestri holds a bachelor’s degree in digital media production from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
