Yvonne Wingett Sanchez will join The Washington Post as a democracy reporter for Arizona. Sanchez joins from The Arizona Republic, where she worked for more than 21 years, most recently as a national political reporter.
She begins her new role on June 20.
Sanchez co-hosted The Gaggle, the Republic’s weekly political podcast, and reported on the intersection of local neighborhoods and city government. She also served as Latino affairs reporter and as Maricopa County investigative reporter/Maricopa County government reporter.
She interned on The Detroit News’ Features desk through the Chips Quinn Scholars Program for Diversity in Journalism program.
Sanchez has a B.S. in journalism and mass communication from the University of Idaho.
