Sommer Mathis has joined The Washington Post as senior editor for newsroom recruiting, leading the recruitment of talented journalists and streamlining Тhe Post’s hiring process. She will also build on the newsroom recruiting strategy.
Mathis has been editing several startup digital publications for the last 15 years. Most recently, she was editor-in-chief of City Monitor. She was also the founding editor of CityLab, when it was still part of The Atlantic.
She was also the editor-in-chief at DCist. Apart from the Post, her work has appeared in The Atlantic, The Guardian and Architect magazine among others.
Mathis is a UCLA graduate.
