Washington Post appoints two to investigative unit

The Washington Post has tapped Trish Wilson as investigative projects editor and Desmond Butler as investigative reporter.

Wilson recently served as a climate and environment editor at The Post. Before that, she was at The Associated Press, where she held the post of deputy Latin America and Caribbean editor, and then became an international investigations editor.

She has also worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer as a health and science editor, and then as an assistant managing editor, investigations, science and medicine. She has also reported and edited for the News & Observer. Wilson has a B.S. from Georgetown University and an M.A. from the University of Florida.

Butler previously held the post of investigative reporter, climate and environment. Before The Post, he worked at The Associated press for over 15 years, holding various roles, including working as a reporter on the New York City desk and the international desk.

He was also a chief correspondent, Turkey and a reporter on the international investigations team. He has also reported for The New York Times.

Butler earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and has an M.A. from the University of Oxford.
