Washington Post announces newsroom summer interns

The following excerpt announcement was sent out from The Washington Post managing editors Cameron Barr, Tracy Grant, Kat Downs Mulder, and Krissah Thompson:

The Washington Post is thrilled to announce its 2021 Summer Intern Class. This will be the 58th summer that The Post has welcomed college juniors, seniors and graduate students into the newsroom to work alongside some of the world’s best journalists.

The interns will work as reporters, photographers, videographers, graphic reporters, designers, editorial writers, multiplatform editors, social media editors and audio producers. They represent 22 colleges and universities from as far away as California and as nearby as Maryland.

Two interns have been named Bradlee Fellows, in recognition of the courage and integrity that legendary Washington Post Executive Editor Benjamin C. Bradlee instilled in his newsroom. Founded in 2018, the Bradlee Fellows program is funded by a gift from Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward and his wife, journalist Elsa Walsh.

For the first time this year, The Post has teamed with Military Veterans in Journalism to create a fellowship for a veteran who is pursuing a career in journalism. The fellow will receive the same introduction to the newsroom as the interns.
