WaPo names Jamison national political enterprise reporter

The following excerpt was sent out from The Washington Post’s national editor Matea Gold, deputy national editor Philip Rucker, senior national investigations editor Peter Wallsten, local editor Mike Semel, deputy local editor Maria Glod and local enterprise and projects editor Lynda Robinson:

Peter Jamison

We are delighted to announce that Peter Jamison will soon be taking on a new role as a national political enterprise reporter.

In this position, Peter will chronicle how polarizing debates are playing out on the ground across the country, as well as scrutinize the backgrounds of candidates seeking elected office. He will bring to this mission his skills as a dogged investigative reporter and a gifted narrative writer, which he has demonstrated on the Local staff for the last six years.

After joining The Post in 2016 from the Los Angeles Times, Peter spent three years covering the nation’s capital and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Peter began his career at the Point Reyes Light, a small but mighty weekly on California’s North Coast where his duties included “paste-up” and delivery of the newspaper in addition to reporting. He rotated coasts a few times after that, working at the Valley News in West Lebanon, N.H.; SF Weekly in San Francisco; the Tampa Bay Times and finally the Los Angeles Times, where he covered then-Mayor Eric Garcetti. He was a finalist for the Livingston Awards in 2007 and 2010, and in 2009 was included in the anthology Best American Food Writing.

Peter will take on his new role later this year after completing his ongoing home-schooling project. Please join us in congratulating him.
