WaPo hires Loofbourow as TV critic

The Washington Post has tapped Lili Loofbourow to serve as a TV critic. In her new role, she will lead the Post’s TV coverage, write reviews and produce trend pieces.

Recently, Loofbourow was a staff writer at the Slate, where she worked for five years covering TV, politics, gender, comedy, fandoms and social media. She was a culture critic at The Week and served as a special correspondent at the Los Angeles Review of Books.

She also wrote cover profiles and essays for the New York Times Magazine and was a columnist at The Awl and Hairpin.

Loofbourow co-founded the criticism blog Dear Television.

She also won the Virginia Quarterly Review’s Staige D. Blackford Prize for Nonfiction twice.

Loofbourow has bachelor’s degrees from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from the University of Alabama.
