The following excerpt was sent out from The Washington Post’s investigative editor Jeff Leen, deputy investigative editor Eric Rich and Rapid Response Investigative Unit deputy editor Mary Pat Flaherty:

Chris Dehghanpoor

We are pleased to announce that Chris Dehghanpoor is joining the Rapid Response Investigations Team as a reporter specializing in open-source research.

Chris has worked as an information security engineer for Twitch, Amazon and, most recently, Google. But it is his sideline hobby that drew our attention: For nearly three years, he has been ferreting out disinformation campaigns under the Twitter handle Trapezoid of Discovery.

Chris’s work has been cited by numerous news organizations, including The Washington Post, the Daily Beast and Vice.

Chris will work out of the newsroom, having relocated from Los Angeles to Washington with his wife, Beth, who works in creative development for packaging in the beauty industry.
