Anne Galloway, founder and executive director of VTDigger, has stepped down from her post.
She will continue to serve as the site’s founder and editor-at-large to assist the board with the transition and refocus on investigative reporting.
Galloway founded the news site in 2009 with a focus on covering state government. Since then, it has expanded its coverage from its base in Montpelier and now has the largest newsroom in Vermont. Galloway also worked with her newsroom to provide readers with information when the pandemic hit.
“It has been a privilege to lead this pioneering enterprise with such a dedicated group of editors, reporters and business staff,” Galloway said.
Jim Welch, former deputy managing editor at USA Today, has been named interim executive director while there is a national search underway to find a new leader.
