Sydney Welch, a meteorologist at WSET-TV Ch. 13, an ABC station in Lynchburg, Va., is set to depart. She wrote on X/Twitter:
“It’s time for a forecast of a different kind – a personal one. Friday, Sept. 8 will be my last day on Good Morning Virginia. To the viewers, followers, and ABC 13 crew, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“You made every early morning alarm worth it. But, as they say, change is the only constant in life, and I know you’ll be in wonderful hands. I’ll keep you posted but for now, Love you all!”
Previously, Welch held the same post at both WCYB-TV Ch. 5, an NBC and CW Plus affiliate in Bristol, Va., and at Fox station WEMT-TV Ch. 39 in Greeneville, Tenn.
She interned at WCTV-TV Ch. 6, a CBS- and MyNetworkTV-affiliate in Georgia serving the Tallahassee, Fla. market.
Welch has a B.S. in meteorology from Florida State University.
