Emily Alvarenga has joined The San Diego Union-Tribune as a community reporter. “I’ll be covering the diverse neighborhoods that make up the city of San Diego. I’m looking forward to diving into covering the underserved areas of the city and its minorities,” she said.
Previously, she was a senior staff writer covering features and business for The Signal in Santa Clarita Valley, Los Angeles. She was also a contributing writer at Stars and Stripes, and has interned at CBS News 8.
Alvarenga has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Diego State University.
