The following excerpt was sent out WMUR-TV Ch. 9 in Manchester, N.H.:

Katherine Underwood

Katherine Underwood joined WMUR in February 2023 as a morning anchor and reporter.

Katherine came to WMUR after a year in public relations, leading brand storytelling for an integrated communications agency called Racepoint Global. Before that, Katherine spent more than 12 years as a general assignment reporter and anchor in markets across the Northeast.

During her eight years at New England Cable News, Katherine helped successfully launch NBC Universal’s owned and operated local news affiliate, NBC10 Boston. She spent three years as the co-anchor of NBC10 Boston Weekend Today.

Prior to Boston, Katherine spent two years as a general assignment reporter at CBS13 News in Portland, Maine. During that time, she was recognized by the Maine Association of Broadcasters for best spot news coverage.

In her previous role as a reporter for FOX23 News in Albany, Katherine received the 2011 New York State Associated Press Award for Best News Series, “Picking Up the Pieces.” The documentary-style series told the stories of Upstate New Yorkers rebuilding their lives after Tropical Storm Irene.

Katherine graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a double major in Journalism and Latin American studies, Katherine landed her first full-time job on-air in Elmira, New York at WENY-TV.

This is, in fact, the second time Katherine has joined the WMUR team — her first stint was as a college intern on the morning show.
