Time adds two to its editorial staff

Whitney Matewe has joined Time as a photo editor. Previously, she held the same post at National Geographic.

Matewe was also a digital photo editor at The New Yorker and a photo editing fellow at The Intercept. She has also interned at Refinery29, Inc. and was a photo fellow at Conde Nast. She has also served as a staff photographer and as a photo editor/filmmaker at the Columbia Missourian.

She was a visual journalist at Inside Columbia and Vox Magazine.

Matewe holds a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Time also named Simmone Shah a reporter-researcher, after she initially joined as an Emma Bowen Foundation Fellow in research and fact-checking.  Previously, she interned at Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting and ELLE Magazine.

She was also a news reporter at  The Daily Californian and NewsroomU.

Shah is a B.A. in English language and literature/letters from Barnard College.
