Thomson among Overstory Media layoffs

Jimmy Thomson

Overstory Media has laid off Jimmy Thomson, managing editor of the Capital Daily. His tweet reads:

“As of this morning I guess I am looking for writing and editing work. Best job I ever had, building and supporting that team.”

Thomson teaches environmental and science journalism The University of British Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, Writing and Media.

He freelanced business, culture, travel, science and environment stories for National Geographic News, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Walrus and the Canadian Geographic.

Thomson has a bachelor’s degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Canada and a master’s degree from The University of British Columbia. Connect with Jimmy on LinkedIn.
