The Washington Post Outlook has named Sandhya Somashekhar as an assignment editor.
In her new role, she will develop ideas for coverage, recruit authors for pieces and edit stories for PostEverything and the Sunday section.
Her new role begins Feb. 8.
Somashekhar has been with the Post for more than 14 years. She joined as a metro reporter and then became national political reporter. She was also part of two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams. Somashekhar then held the post of health policy reporter for more than a year, before recently serving as social change reporter.
She has also worked as a reporter at The Argus and a local reporter at The Gazette.
Somashekhar holds a master’s degree in journalism from University of California, Berkeley.
