The Independent taps Thomas as U.S. West Coast editor

Philip Thomas

The Independent has appointed Philip Thomas U.S. West Coast editor, based in Los Angeles. Recently, Thomas was U.S. assistant editor based in the New York bureau.

Previously, he served as deputy editor smartphone and web at The Times and Sunday Times. He was assistant editor news output and output editor online at Sky News. Thomas also freelanced for The Sunday Telegraph and The Sun.

He was chief reporter and political editor at the Portsmouth News.
