The Independent has appointed Christian Broughton as CEO. He will begin on Oct. 1 and will lead the title to the next stage of growth and diversification.
Commenting on his new role, Broughton said:
“It is a great honour to be taking on this role for the next chapter of The Independent’s remarkable growth story – expanding the business, opening up new horizons for the brand, and empowering our journalism.”
He joined The Independent in 2009 as a sports editor. He then served as an assistant editor and has held the posts of editor of Independent Digital and managing director.
Broughton graduated from King’s College London.
