The Dispatch recently announced that publisher Todd Benz will be leaving the company on April 3.
Maria Purcell will be taking on the reins of the company.
Purcell joined The Dispatch in 2018 as the advertising manager. She previously worked for other publications including the News & Observer and the News & Record.
“I am honored to serve our Dispatch readers and our community at large,” she said. “The Dispatch remains deeply committed to local reporting and advertising, just as we have since our founding as the Davidson Dispatch back in 1882. We look forward to serving Davidson County and beyond with reliable and impactful local content for many years to come.”
Purcell is a B.A. in journalism from UNC School of Media and Journalism.
