The Athletic’s Connolly laid off as Baltimore Orioles beat writer

Dan Connolly

Dan Connolly, a senior baseball writer at The Athletic, wrote on Twitter:

“Sorry to upstage Flag Day with personal news. Friday is my last day @TheAthletic, cuz of its decision to move on from localized beat coverage. This is my 23rd season covering O’s (5 for TA). Thanks to awesome teammates there & readers who stuck with me. Hoping for a new chapter.”

Previously, Connolly was a senior writer/web content editor at BaltimoreBaseball.com and worked as a baseball writer at The Baltimore Sun.

He also worked as a reporter and assistant sports editor at The York Dispatch.

Connolly has a B.A. in communications from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.
