The Athletic debuts new football podcast

After the controversial announcement that it would shutter its sports department, The New York Times is moving fast to bolster The Athletic as its sole voice in sports coverage.

Below is an excerpt from The New York Times:

The Athletic today announced a new daily podcast for football fans around the world, offering insightful, expert reporting that allows listeners to stay on top of the biggest football stories each weekday.

With a runtime of just over ten minutes, “The Daily Football Briefing” is the first Athletic podcast designed specifically for a post-pandemic audience that commutes less and demands more. Using the most authoritative voices in football media, “The Daily Football Briefing” will swiftly tell you what happened last night, what’s happening now and what’s going to happen tonight.

New episodes of “The Daily Football Briefing” will be released every weekday at 0300 B.S.T., ensuring that we’re in position and ready for you every morning, from Monday to Friday. It will be hosted on rotation by Michael Bailey, Tim Spiers, Adam Leventhal and other talented Athletic voices.

Listeners can tune in wherever they get their podcasts.
