Sun-Times editor Fusco departs for California news startup

Chris Fusco, the veteran Chicago journalist, will be leaving the Sun-Times to help launch a news startup in central California, “Lookout Santa Cruz.”

Fusco will serve as founding executive editor of the new venture.

The startup is expected to launch this fall as the first of a network of local news and information sites. In his new role, Fusco will lead an initial editorial team of 10, with plans for expansion to follow.

Fusco will be departing the Sun-Times after 20 years with the publication. He joined as a reporter and later on held the posts of managing editor and editor-in-chief. Most recently, he was executive editor of the publication.

Prior to joining the Sun-Times, Fusco has worked as a reporter at the Daily Herald and the Northwest Herald.

Fusco is a B.A. in English from Illinois Wesleyan University.
