The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has laid off a sports editor and breaking news editor as per Jeff Gordon, president of the United Media Guild. Both editors were not represented by the union.
Also, two outside sales representatives took buyout offers.
The Post-Dispatch’s parent company, Lee Enterprises has also offered buyouts to other editorial staff members. The move comes as Lee fought off a hostile takeover from hedge fund Alden Global Capital by approving all three of the company’s board nominees.
