Joe Hoyt, a college sports and Texas Rangers beat reporter, will leave The Dallas Morning News on Aug. 23. He wrote on Twitter:

“I’m excited to tell you what’s next, but this wasn’t an easy decision. I went from intern, to high school reporter, to colleges and more here. It will always be home to me.”

Hoyt joined the Morning News in November 2018. Before that, he was a digital content producer and high school sports reporter at KOIN-TV Ch. 6, a CBS affiliate in Portland, Ore. He also worked as an Iowa state football beat reporter at the Gannett-owned Ames Tribune and freelanced for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Hoyt has a B.S. in journalism from the University of Oregon.
