Michael Shapiro, NBA writer at Sports Illustrated, has left. Shapiro’s tweet reads, “I won’t be gone for long. Stay tuned for what’s next.”
Shapiro had been with Sports Illustrated for more than five years. He joined in January 2017 as an editorial intern. Previously, he was a prep sports writer for the Austin American-Statesman.
He interned at KTBC-TV Ch. 7, a Fox-owned station in Austin, Texas.
Shapiro graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a sports editor of the student paper The Daily Texan.
