The Post and Courier’s operation in Columbia, South Carolina, has promoted Andy Shain to managing editor, expansion.
In his new role, Shain will work with newsrooms in Columbia, Greenville/Spartanburg, Myrtle Beach/Georgetown and Hilton Head Island. The Post and Courier is headquartered in Charleston.
Previously, Shain held the post of managing editor for the Columbia and Myrtle Beach/Georgetown newsrooms. He also managed Columbia’s editorial content for Free Times, an alternative weekly newspaper owned by the parent company of The Post and Courier.
He was a politics/government/higher education reporter at The State Newspaper and is a former editor/consumer reporter of The Charlotte Observer. He served as a business editor/reporter at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach.
Shain graduated from Northwestern University.
