Casey Smith has joined Indiana Capital Chronicle as a reporter to cover policy and politics, with a focus on education, the environment and the state legislature. Recently, she was a statehouse reporter at The Associated Press.
Smith reported on COVID-19 at The New York Times and worked as the 2019-’20 graduate research fellow at the Investigative Reporting Program in Berkeley, Calif. She wasalso a Pulliam fellow at The Indianapolis Star.
Smith also interned at the Washington Post and National Geographic and served as a correspondent at USA Today.
Smith has a B.A. in journalism/telecommunications from Ball State University, where she now teaches introductory courses on journalistic storytelling. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
